BULLEH SHAHTHE LIVING VERSE
FROM THE WORDS OF BULLEH SHAH

Tūñ kidheroñ āiā kidhar jāṇā

Where have you come from?

Two ways into the same verse. Tap a line to find its echo.

Whence did you come, where will you go? Name your home.

The office you boast of cannot follow you.

You make a trade of plunder and pain.

May the glorious beloved ease the way and banish fear.

Come to the silent city that receives us all.

The mighty one ferries full boatloads; Death's angel is the boatman.

A few days' swagger, then departure.

Worse than them all is Bulleh, steeped in old faults.

Whence did you come, where will you go? Name your home.

The office you boast of cannot follow you.
