केहे लारे देना एं सानूं दो घड़ियां मिल जाईं ।
You live so near, yet hide your door.
नेड़े वस्सें थां ना दस्सें
Which way do you go, that I may seek you?
ढूंडां कित वल्ल जाहीं,
You flashed before me as Ahmad,
आपे झाती पाई अहमद
I turn to look—and you are gone.
वेखां तां मुड़ नाहीं ।
You promised to return, but never came.
आख ग्युं मुड़ आइउं नहीं
Fire leaps inside my breast.
सीने दे विच भड़कन भाहीं,
We live within one house,
इकसे घर विच वसदियां रसदियां
where shall I send my cry?
कित वल्ल कूक सुणाईं ।
Traveller, carry my words.
पांधी जा, मेरा देह सुनेहा
Why hide behind the heart?
दिल दे उहले लुकदा केहा,
For Allah's sake, do not turn against me.
नाम अल्लाह दे ना हो वैरी
Do not starve my eyes of you.
मुक्ख वेखन नूं ना तरसाईं ।
Bulleh, what has love done to me?
बुल्ल्हा शहु की लाइआ मैनूं
At midnight I am singing you.
रात अद्धी है तेरी महमा,
All fear the pathless wild,
औझड़ बेले सभ कोई डरदा
yet eagerly I seek you there.
सो ढूंडां मैं चाईं चाईं ।
Enough of hollow promises—come sit with me a while.
