Is this self mine or yours? At last, a heap of ash.
मैं मेरी है कि तेरी है, इह अंत भसम दी ढेरी है,
The beloved surrounds this dust and teaches it to dance.
इह ढेरी पिया ने घेरी है, ढेरी नूं नाच नचाईदा ।

हुण किस थीं आप छुपाईदा ।
Here you make senseless mischief; there you walk in human form.
किते बेसिर चौड़ां पाओगे, किते जोड़ इनसान हंढाओगे,
Here you come as Adam and Eve; sometimes even I forget you.
किते आदम हवा बण आओगे, कदी मैथों वी भुल्ल जाईदा ।

You camped in the open and beat your booming drum.
बाहर ज़ाहर डेरा पायो, आपे ढों ढों ढोल बजायो,
You proclaimed yourself to the world, then ran to Abdullah's home.
जग ते आपना आप जितायो, फिर अबदुल्ल दे घर धाईदा।

हुण किस थीं आप छुपाईदा ।
Whoever seeks you dies before death.
जो भाल तुसाडी करदा है, मोयां तों अग्गे मरदा है,
Even dead, they fear you may kill the dead again.
उह मोयां वी तैथों डरदा है, मत मोयां नूं मार कुहाईदा ।

हुण किस थीं आप छुपाईदा ।
You herd cows in Vrindavan, climb Lanka and sound the horn.
बिन्दराबन में गऊआं चरावे, लंका चढ़ के नाद वजावे,
You come as Mecca's pilgrim—what wondrous changing forms!
मक्के दा बण हाजी आवे, वाह वाह रंग वटाईदा ।

हुण किस थीं आप छुपाईदा ।
Mansur came to you; you lifted him to the gallows.
मनसूर तुसां ते आया ए तुसां सूली पकड़ चढ़ाइआ ए,
He is my brother, my father's son; pay for my brother's blood.
मेरा भाई बाबल जाइआ ए दियो खून बहा मेरे भाई दा ।

हुण किस थीं आप छुपाईदा ।
You wear every guise, you are the wine and drink it.
तुसीं सभनीं भेसीं थींदे हो, आपे मद आपे पींदे हो,
Everywhere I see you; through you the self dissolves.
मैनूं हर जा तुसीं दसींदे हो, आपे आप को आप चुकाईदा ।

हुण किस थीं आप छुपाईदा ।
Now I shall stay beside you; no lost heart will make me flee.
हुण पास तुसाडे वस्सांगी, ना बेदिल हो के नस्सांगी,
I shall tell all your secrets—why not hold me close?
सभ भेत तुसाडे दस्सांगी, क्यों मैनूं अंग ना लाईदा ।

हुण किस थीं आप छुपाईदा ।
Blessed the one who receives such grace, becoming like you.
वाह जिस पर करम अवेहा है, तहकीक उह वी तैं जेहा है,
Sure is this saying: your gracious gaze carries us across.
सच्च सही रवायत एहा है, तेरी नज़र मेहर तर जाईदा ।

You plant a garden in the fire and show yourself within.
विच भांबड़ बाग़ लवाईदा, जेहड़ा विचों आप वखाईदा,
From alif you make Ahad—who can tell that hidden truth?
जां अलफों अहद बणाईदा, तां बातन क्या बतलाईदा ।

हुण किस थीं आप छुपाईदा ।
Friend, Allah, keeper, lord—you are your own seeker.
बेली अल्लाह वाली मालक हो, तुसीं आपे आपने सालक हो,
You are creation and Creator, you command the good.
आपे ख़लकत आप ख़ालक हो, आपे अमर मअरूफ़ कराईदा ।

Here a thief, there a judge, there a preacher on the pulpit.
किधरे चोर हो किधरे काज़ी हो, किते मम्बर ते बह वाअज़ी हो,
Here a warrior bold with sword; you send your own army out.
किते तेग़ बहादर ग़ाज़ी हो, आपे आपणा कटक चढ़ाईदा ।
From whom can you hide now?
हुण किस थीं आप छुपाईदा ।
You sent Joseph into prison, Jonah into the fish.
आपे यूसफ़ कैद करायो, यूनस मच्छली तों निगलायो,
You plagued the patient one with worms, then raised him to the throne.
साबर कीड़े घत्त बहायो, फेर उहनां तख़त चढ़ाईदा ।

हुण किस थीं आप छुपाईदा ।
Bullah: beloved, now I know you, know you in every form.
बुल्ल्हा शौह हुण सही सिंञाते हो, हर सूरत नाल पछाते हो,
Here you come and there you go; never elude me again.
