BULLEH SHAHTHE LIVING VERSE
FROM THE WORDS OF BULLEH SHAH

Dil loche māhī yār nūn

The heart longs for the beloved

Two ways into the same verse. Tap a line to find its echo.

Some laugh as they talk; some waste away in tears.

Tell the flowering spring: my heart longs for my love.

I washed and waited; longing knotted in my heart.

Burn the jewels and finery: my heart longs for my love.

Those meddling women crazed me; sorrow closed on every side.

Come home and let me see you: my heart longs for my love.

Bullah, the beloved came; I held Ranjha close.

Sorrow crossed the ocean: my heart longs for my love.
