BULLEH SHAHTHE LIVING VERSE
FROM THE WORDS OF BULLEH SHAH

Aisa jagya gyan palita

The wick of knowing has caught fire

Two ways into the same verse. Tap a line to find its echo.

The wick of knowing burns like this.

Neither Hindu nor Turk need name me: love alone will do.

The lover wins the lord; the wick of knowing shines.

See the tricksters raise a cry, inventing birth and death.

Fools, bewildered, shout at what the lover shows.

The wick of knowing burns like this.

Bulla, the lover's word is strange, and strikes the loving heart.

It stills the fool's cleverness; words fall quiet.

The wick of knowing burns like this.
