BULLEH SHAHTHE LIVING VERSE
FROM THE WORDS OF BULLEH SHAH

phirī rutt shagūphiān vālī

Birds in the flowering season

Two ways into the same verse. Tap a line to find its echo.

Again the flowering season came; the birds flew in for grain.

Hawks devoured some in flight; snares took others on the ground.

Some still dreamed of flying home; some turned upon the spit.

What could they do, O Bulleh? Fate had dealt and sealed their share.
