Now Majnun, now Laila; you fill each beating heart.
किते मजनू हो किते लेली हो, हर घट घट बीच समाइआ ए ।

Now heedless, now at prayer; now judging from the pulpit.
कहूं गाफ़ल कहूं नमाज़ी हो, कहूं मिम्बर ते बह काज़ी हो,
Now a bold warrior with a sword; now founder of a path.
कहूं तेग़ बहादुर ग़ाज़ी हो, कहूं आपना पंथ बणाइआ ए ।
It is you who change your face.
तैं आप सरूप वटाइआ ए ।
Here the mosque keeps its customs; there a temple stands.
कहूं मसजद दा वरतारा ए कहूं बण्या ठाकुरदुआरा ए,
Here matted locks of renunciation; there the sheikh appears.
कहूं बैरागी जट धारा ए कहूं शैखन बण बण आया ए ।
It is you who change your face.
तैं आप सरूप वटाइआ ए ।
Bulleh, I needed only love; meeting the Lord fulfilled me.
बुल्ल्हा शहु दा मैं मुहताज होया, महाराज मिले मेरा काज होया,
My lover's sight became my ascent; love struck, and this song rose.
मुझे पिया का दरस मिअराज होया, लग्गा इश्क तां इह गुन गाइआ ए ।
