I speak of the place beyond.
मैं गल्ल ओथे दी करदा हां ।
Even as I speak, I tremble.
पर गल्ल करदा वी डरदा हां ।
You told the souls: Go on; I come beside you.
नाल रूहां दे लारा लाइआ, तुसीं चलो मैं नाले आया,
Here you raised a veil; I wander in bewilderment.
एथे परदा चा बणाइआ, मैं भरम भुलाइआ फिरदा हां ।
Even as I speak, I tremble.
पर गल्ल करदा वी डरदा हां ।
I play against the king: ahead or behind, I lose.
नाल हाकम दे खेल असाडी, जे मैं मीरी तां मैं फाडी,
The stake was always yours; the old account falls to me.
धरी धराई पूंजी तुहाडी, मैं अगला लेखा भरदा हां ।
Even as I speak, I tremble.
पर गल्ल करदा वी डरदा हां ।
Entrusted with the stake, the fool was sent to follow thieves.
दे पूंजी मूरख झुंजलाइआ, मगर चोरां दे पैड़ा लाइआ,
I found the thieves' tracks; each night I too go raiding.
चोरां दी मैं पैड़ लिआया, हर शब धाड़े धड़दा हां ।
Even as I speak, I tremble.
पर गल्ल करदा वी डरदा हां ।
He will not stay with me, nor answer when I plead.
ना नाल मेरे उह रस्सदा ए ना मिन्नत कीती सज्जदा ए,
I turn to sit; he runs. Again I beg him back.
जां मुड़ बैठां तां भज्जदा ए मुड़ मिन्नतज़ारी करदा हां ।
Even as I speak, I tremble.
पर गल्ल करदा वी डरदा हां ।
What joy did I find here, with no home and no arrival?
की सुक्ख पाइआ मैं आण इथे, ना मंज़ल ना डेरे जित्थे,
Where can I ring for departure? Daily I saddle the camels.
घंटा कूच सुणावां कित्थे, नित्त ऊठ कचावे कड़दा हां ।
Even as I speak, I tremble.
पर गल्ल करदा वी डरदा हां ।
Bulleh, the depth is endless; neither world can sound it.
बुल्ल्हे शाह बेअंत डूंघाई, दो जग बीच ना लग्गदी काई,
Neither shore is known to me; headless, footless, I swim.
उरार पार द ख़बर ना काई, मैं बे सिर पैरीं तरदा हां ।
I speak of the place beyond.
