Let my brief self fall away; let your lasting presence shine.
मैं फ़ानी आप को दूर करां, तैं बाकी आप हज़ूर करां,
If I declare it as Mansur did, will you lift me to the gallows?
जे अज़हार वांग मनसूर करां, खड़ सूली पकड़ चढ़ाओगे ।

कदी आपनी आख बुलाओगे ।
All sleep; I wake. My eyes open into tears.
मैं जागी सभ सोया है, खुल्ल्ही पलक ते उठ के रोया है,
Only rapture remains—will you steep me in the first Yes?
जुज़ मसती काम ना होया है, कदी मसत अलस्सत बणाओगे ।

जदों अनहद बण दो नैन धरे, अग्गे सिर बिन धड़ के लाख पड़े,
The coloured rivers rise—will my blood join their flood?
उच्छल रंगन दे दरिआ चढ़े, मेरे लहू दी नदी वगाओगे ।

कदी आपनी आख बुलाओगे ।
No lover sleeps in peace; our tears must wash our faces.
किसे आशक ना सुक्ख सोना ए असां रो रो के मुक्ख धोना ए,
What spell is this? Will this affliction ever end?
इह जादू है कि टूना ए इस रोग दा भोग बणाओगे ।

कदी आपनी आख बुलाओगे ।
What price has love for a head? What accounts can it settle?
कहो क्या सिर इश्क बिचारेगा, फिर क्या बीसी निरवारेगा,
After the head is given on the scaffold, strike the drum.
जथ दार उप्पर सिर वारेगा, तब पिच्छों ढोल वजाओगे ।

My heart I roasted; my tears I brewed as wine.
मैं आपना मन कबाब किया, आंखों का अरक शराब किया,
My veins are strings, my bones an offering—what name will you call at the end?
रग तारां हड्ड कबाब किया, क्यामत क्या नाम बुलाओगे ।

Why nurse this lovers' quarrel? Choose the bargain of your heart.
शकरंजी को क्या कीजीएगा, मन भाना सौदा लीजीएगा,
Who shall have my world and faith? Only show yourself to me.
इह दीन दुनी किस दी जीएगा, मुझे आपना दरस बताओगे ।

कदी आपनी आख बुलाओगे ।
Your appearing scorched me; rain poured from my eyes.
मैनूं आण नज़ारे ताइआ है, दो नैणां बरखा लाइआ है,
Day after day, as Inayat you come—is this how you make yourself known?
बन रोज़ इनायत आया है, ऐवें आपना आप जिताओगे ।

Bulleh, go to see your love; teach these eyes to see.
बुल्ल्हा शहु नूं वेखन जाओगे, इन्हां अक्खियां नूं समझाओगे,
Then comes the sight: Shah Inayat enters home.
दीदार तदाहीं पाओगे, बण शाह इनायत घर आओगे ।
