My house was robbed; I slept, and none awoke.
मेरे घर विच चोरी होई, सुत्ती रही ना जाग्या कोई,
I grasped the master's wisdom: what was lost has crossed to safety.
मैं गुर फड़ सोझी होई, जो माल ग्या सो तरदा ए ।
The master does as he wills.
गुर जो चाहे सो करदा ए ।
First, a hidden treasure: wonder within wonder.
पहले मख़फी आप खज़ाना सी, ओथे हैरत हैरतख़ाना सी,
Then he entered oneness, whole and part behind one veil.
फिर वहदत दे विच आना सी, कुल जुज़ दा मुजमल परदा ए ।
The master does as he wills.
गुर जो चाहे सो करदा ए ।
He cries “Be,” and being comes; from one he draws the many.
कुनफईकून आवाज़ां देंदा, वहदत विचों कसरत लैंदा,
Clothed as a servant, he enters the mosque and bows.
पहन लिबास बन्दा बण बहिंदा, कर बन्दगी मसजद वड़दा ए ।
The master does as he wills.
गुर जो चाहे सो करदा ए ।
On covenant day he asks “Am I not?”—“Yes” is pledge enough.
रोज़ मीसाक अलस्सत सुणावे, कालूबला अज़हद ना चाहवे,
He hides himself within and sets each thing in place.
विच कुझ आपना आप छुपावे, उह गिन गिन वसतां धरदा ए ।
The master does as he wills.
गुर जो चाहे सो करदा ए ।
The master names himself Allah, becomes Ali and the Prophet.
गुर अल्लाह आप कहेंदा ए गुर अली नबी हो बहिंदा ए,
He lives in every heart and fills each empty vessel.
घर हर दे दिल विच रहिंदा ए उह खाली भांडे भरदा ए ।
The master does as he wills.
गुर जो चाहे सो करदा ए ।
Bullah found him in his house, the player of every part.
बुल्ल्हा शौह नूं घर विच पाइआ, जिस सांगी सांग बणाइआ,
He hid the secret from the crowd and read love's highest lesson.
लोकां कोलों भेत छुपाइआ, उह दरस परम दा पढ़दा ए ।
