BULLEH SHAHTHE LIVING VERSE
FROM THE WORDS OF BULLEH SHAH

Ih dukh jā kahūn kis āge

To whom can I tell this grief?

Two ways into the same verse. Tap a line to find its echo.

To whom can I carry this grief?

Love has wounded every pore.

Death comes first, then the world's laughter.

Wherever I turn, I am caught in enchantment.

Who will comfort my heart?

Dark beloved, I place myself in your care.

They came asking me of sorrow,

whose lovers journeyed far away.

Mine neither leaves nor returns.

Where can I carry this grief?

Bulleh Shah: beloved, come home.

Let us share one fleeting hour.

Body, heart, wealth, life—I give them all to you.

To whom can I carry this grief?

Love has wounded every pore.
