BULLEH SHAHTHE LIVING VERSE
FROM THE WORDS OF BULLEH SHAH

Apne sang ralain piare

Beloved, draw me into yourself

Two ways into the same verse. Tap a line to find its echo.

Gather me into you, beloved, gather me in.

You yourself began this love, with such delight.

Was it I, or you, who loved? See your pledge through.

On the road, the woods hold robbers, the forest countless fears.

Leopards and spotted beasts roar their menace.

The world has crossed to your far shore; a thousand perils line the bank.

My heart shakes with fear: bring this boat across.

Serve the true Lord; let these prayers be heard.

Bulleh, lift the veil: show the king of kings.

Gather me into you, beloved, gather me in.
