In sleep and idleness I saw nothing; awake, I found my love.
सुत्त्यां बैठ्यां कुझ्झ ना डिट्ठा, जागदियां सहु पाययो ई ।
Shams cried, ‘Rise at my command’; you hung him upside down.
'कुम-ब-इज़नी' शमस बोले, उलटा कर लटकाययो ई ।
Love's cry filled the world; you set me down with comfort.
इश्कन इश्कन जग्ग विच होईआं, दे दिलास बिठाययो ई ।
No distance parts us; why do you hide from me?
मैं तैं काई नहीं जुदाई, फिर क्यों आप छुपाययो ई ।
The cattle came; their keeper did not. Longing burns me homeless.
मझ्झियां आईआं माही ना आया, फूक ब्रिहों रुलाययो ई ।

एस इश्क दे वेखे कारे, यूसफ़ खूह पवाययो ई ।

वांग ज़ुलैखां विच मिसर दे, घुंगट खोल्ह रुलाययो ई ।

रब्ब-इ-अरानी मूसा बोले, तद कोह-तूर जलाययो ई ।
Your own reply was stern: You shall not see me.
लण-तरानी झिड़कां वाला, आपे हुकम सुणाययो ई ।
Love unmakes its mad one, leaving the heart an orphan.
इश्क दिवाने कीता फ़ानी, दिल यतीम बनाययो ई ।
