BULLEH SHAHTHE LIVING VERSE
FROM THE WORDS OF BULLEH SHAH

Aao saiyo ral diyo ni vadhai

Friends, come celebrate with me

Two ways into the same verse. Tap a line to find its echo.

Come, sisters, join your voices in my joy.

Ranjha, my love, has become my bridegroom.

A blessed morning rises: Ranjha walks into our yard.

Staff in hand and blanket at his shoulder, he comes dressed as a herdsman.

Come, sisters, join your voices in my joy.

The crowned one roams with cattle, through forest and through pasture.

Who strays toward the One? Who knows what truly is?

Come, sisters, join your voices in my joy.

Bulleh struck his bargain, and drank the poisoned cup.

He counted neither gain nor loss, but shouldered grief and pain.

Come, sisters, join your voices in my joy.

Ranjha, my love, has become my bridegroom.
